Mohammad Hosseini Beheshti was born in Lanban area of Isfahan in 1928. His father was a clergyman. His intelligence and talent were clear since childhood. And it caused him to start reading and writing very soon. The current atmosphere at that time and the events of September 1941 made him interested in religious sciences.
Later he continued religious studies in the city of Qom since 1946. He attended the classes of different great professors of “Hozeh Elmieh”. Martyr Beheshti started cultural activities in “Hozeh Elmieh”. In cooperation with other clergymen, he organized and programmed different religious schools (which were known as “Hozeh Elmieh”). Following being involved in different activities in Tehran and Qom, he departed for Hamburg to establish important organizations.

He was involved in programming religious books in Qom. He organized “Rouhaniat Mobarez” (Clergymen who were involved in political activities against the government) in 1977 and 1978. He was active as a political party by establishing secret and semi secret organizations. Martyr Beheshti established Islamic Revolution Council following guidance and consultations of Imam Khomeini.
A brief biography of Martyr Beheshti, his memories and characteristics based on subjects are written in this book. The memories and characteristics have been gathered through different interviews with his friends and relatives. Efforts have been made to prevent repetition and copying from other written sources as much as possible.

The character of Martyr Beheshti has been narrated by his mother at the first of the book. His grandfather was deceased Mr. Majelsi. His respected mother was the daughter of Haj Sadegh Khatounabadi, one of the great clergymen of Isfahan. His mother knew the whole Koran by heart. It is told that his mother always performed ablutions (The action of washing hands and face and feet in a special way that Muslims do before saying prayers) and recited Koran when feeding him with breast milk. Martyr Beheshti loved his parents very much. He always kept himself informed of the situation of relatives. He gained lots of success in his education and made everyone surprising. He cared about his family a lot. He also cared about their training, hobbies and keeping close contacts with them. He was very open-minded. He had trained his children such that he had a type of inner control on them. As far as personal characteristics are concerned, he was the most similar person to Imam Khomeini.

He was always well dressed with clean cloths. He paid attention to harmony of the cloths as an order. He paid attention to walking. He was familiar with some sports. His mind looked for reasons all the time. He could reach to the main subject by putting the introduction next to each other. He was very accurate. As for choosing people for a particular purpose, he selected the best person. He lived very simply and was not interested in life in this world. His morality is noticed by many people as the same as his characteristics. There was a special comprehensiveness in his personality. He was the best at his time and was an exemplary clergyman. He criticized theses of great western philosophers. He knew 4 live languages of the world. He was always the source of change and modernism. He was open-minded and was one of the main members of the system. As for worshiping God, he had special characteristics. It seemed that he saw God when saying prayers in his “Ghonout” (The action in prayers that Muslims take hands in front of faces and say special words) and prayers. He always said prayers on time. He even said his last “Maghreb” prayers gloriously and on time. (Maghreb prayers is said immediately after sunset)

He was an exalted poem of good characteristics. He used chances as well as possible. He had order in studying too. In his works he calculated wasted time too. He had a special relation with Imam Khomeini which most likely reminded the relation between teacher and follower. And it could be easily found out when he met Imam Khomeini. During political activities against government before the Islamic Revolution, he always searched for efficient people. He faced generously and forgivingly with opposing ideas about him. He played an important role in managing sec ret meetings. The tapes of his lectures were delivered to Imam Khomeini hidden. That was the reason why Shah Regime always fought with him with the whole its force. He influenced a lot on the youth during the time he lived abroad. He explained Islam for the youth. He was surprisingly patient. He faced with different problems calmly. Due to his special situation, he had opponents too. They advertised against him such that they didn’t allow him to get close to Imam Khomeini. They doubled his oppression with their unfair advertisements.

Martyr Beheshti deeply believed in the opinions and views that are brought in this book. He believed that tradition and custom of the society should be separated from each other. He was very caring about social justice. He liked Martyr Rajaee in a special way. His last day of life was June 28th 1981. A bomb which was located under his table exploded while he was giving lecture about the importance of president’s position. Following the explosion of bomb he was martyred with 72 members of Islamic Republic Party in the central office of the party. There are also some documents and letter regarding Martyr Beheshti at the appendices of the book. There is also a calendar at the end of the book which includes the biography of Martyr Beheshti day by day since birth to martyrdom.
